New to the Series for 2024 is the addition of the ACC Junior Criterium Cup presented by Renaissance Financial for athletes 15 to 16 and 17 to 18 years old. Designed to share the limelight of the ACC with athletes of the future, the Junior Criterium Cup will award Jerseys and talent ID opportunities to the next generation of American cyclists. Renaissance Financial proudly affirms “We are honored to support such an esteemed event that aligns with our values of community engagement and youth empowerment.”
The ACC Junior Criterium Cup presented by Renaissance Financial will award daily winner’s jerseys to the young men and women competing in the 15-16 and 17-18 Junior Categories. In addition to the daily awards, points will be tracked towards an overall ranking for the 8-race series. Series leaders will be recognized at the end of the competition.
Beyond the competition, the Junior winers in each of the four categories will gain access to mentorship from three of the US finest criterium racers, Luke Lamperti, US National Champion and member of the UCI Soudal Quick Step World Tour Team, Education First Pro Cyclist and US National Champion, Coryn Labecki, and Andrea Cyr, 2023 ACC Runner Up and professional cyclist for the Goldman Sachs ETFs Racing Team.
Coryn, Luke and Andrea will be available for mentorship and consultation through the Fall/Winter post season, helping the younger athletes with vision, decisions, and inspiration as they chart their paths in cycling.
Luke and Andrea have generously offered their time to host group and individual calls and conversations with the ACC Junior Series winners. This peer-to-peer engagement is intended to create a connection from junior to senior, and help the riders navigate their progress.
American Criterium Cup Junior Series Presented by Renaissance Financial Junior Camp
All four winners of the ACC Junior Series will be invited to attend a unique January training camp in Tucson, Arizona at The Cycling House, an athlete resident training company. The team camp will consist of a multi-day pre-season camp led by Andrea Cyr and the TCH Guides. Each day will feature rides, skills, nutrition, and conversation in preparation for the 2025 season.
Room, board, coaching, and race entry will all be provided by the ACC to help make the Tucson training camp accessible to the ACC Champions.
About the ACC Mentors
Coryn Labecki
Coryn has been a bike racer for over two decades, getting her start as an 11-year-old. She grew up racing mountain bike, cyclocross, track cycling, and road racing in southern California. Over the years and across the disciplines, she has won over 74 national titles and is currently the 2X American criterium national champion.
She is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to one-day racing or punchy climbs, having won the Tour of Flanders, RideLondon Classique, Trofeo Alfredo Binda, as well as stages at the Giro d’Italia Women, the Women’s Tour, Thüringen Ladies Tour, and the Lotto Belgium Tour.
Andrea Cyr
Andrea began racing the professional racing circuit in 2019 but has been riding her bike since her collegiate soccer days. She was runner-up in the American Criterium Cup race series in both 2022 and 2023, as well as supporting her teammate for the overall win in 2023. Last year, she raced with the NCL-based team Miami Nights, finding continued success and multiple podium finishes in the best criteriums here in the US.
More recently, she earned herself a runner-up position for the overall at Speedweek. Outside of cycling she is a double-boarded physician in sports medicine and physical medicine & rehabilitation, practicing medicine in her Indiana home as medical director of Indianapolis Rehabilitation Hospital. Growing up in northern Maine, she found an early love for cross-country skiing and uses this as winter cross-training in addition to cyclocross to prepare for the road season which criteriums as her focus. For the remainder of 2024, she has committed to Goldman-Sachs ETFs Racing
Luke Lamperti
Hailing from California, where he began riding dirt bikes at the age of three, Luke has turned in recent seasons into one of the most sought-after young riders out there as a result of his numerous victories and impressive potential shown in both sprints and one-day races.
A resident of Girona, Spain, Luke a remarkable palmares for the age of 20: a three-time US Criterium National Champion – a unique achievement in the race’s history – he’s also put his name on the winners’ list at the GiroNextGen, Tour of Japan, Tour de Bretagne, Volta ao Alentejo, Tour of Taiwan, and the Lincoln Grand Prix – all in the last two years.
Danny Summerhill
2023 American Criterium Cup points and series winner, Danny has proven himself to be one of the most versatile racers in the US pro peloton. Riding for Reign Storm Racing, formerly known as American Cycling Group, his consistency on the US criterium circuit made inroads into the dominance that L39ion has held over the discipline since they came into the scene. Joining Summerhill are many riders from the team last year, with further reinforcements from a merger with Texas Roadhouse, another top US team. For 2024, the focus is once again exclusively on criteriums.
